Bio

Brian Platt is a graduate journalism student at Carleton University and will graduate in April 2014 unless disaster strikes. He will be working for The Globe and Mail’s B.C. bureau this summer, and has previously worked stints for The Canadian Press and the Winnipeg Free Press.

In May 2011, he graduated from UBC with a BA (major in history, minor in philosophy).

While at UBC, he served as President of the 12,000-member Arts Undergraduate Society.

He was the 2011/2012 Features Editor for the Ubyssey, the best campus paper in Canada. In this capacity he also managed the editorial page and produced a podcast for the paper.

In October 2010, he travelled to Afghanistan and paid for it through freelance work. You can see the photo-journal he kept of his trip here. [This link appears to have died since the Ubyssey updated its website. That’s annoying. I’m hoping to get it back.]
